A sad dissappointment...again.

This book reads like a great story outline from Clive Cussler ruined by an average writer who, once again, seemingly failed to research the finer details in a rush to the finish the manuscript. Mr. Brown's knowledge of cars, boats, airplanes, helicopters, firearms and small unit tactics appears to be at the level of the average person standing on a street corner in a small city somewhere in the eastern US.. Note to Mr. Brown: If you lack first person experience, find experts on those subjects and pick their brains. Better yet... Actually shoot the firearms, drive the cars, ride the motorcycles and at least fly in the airplanes and helicopters. Then write about them like you have done so. Give something back to your readers and make it seem real. They invested the time and money on your books. Maybe you should, too.....

Cussler can not write a bad book and this one is no exception

I am convinced Mr. Cussler can not write a bad book and this one is no exception. Old friends on another adventure that you want to be a part of. I admit it took me a few chapters to get into this one, but don't be discouraged if you feel the same way. Because this book does click in and from that point on its the usual great ride. Lots of action, exotic settings, some james bond gadgets, and a little history lesson always keep me coming back for more.

Kurt Austin strikes again!

As usual, Clive Cussler spins an epic tale of the battle of good versus evil.

This time these thing is Egypt and the Sahara Desert. A group of fanatics attempts to rule Egypt and the surrounding Saharan countries by stealing their ground water and effectively causing a panic by the citizens of those countries as water supplies dry up.

Kurt Austin and the usual group of NUMA agents investigate a phenomena dating back early Egypt known as the Black Mist which induces paralysis and an antidote called the Angels Breath.

The agents of NUMA stumble upon a series of bizarre clues which leads to a secret society intent on ruling a major portion of Saharan Africa.

This book grabs your attention and hold it through the amazing conclusion.

I recommend this book to all readers who enjoy thrillers. If you've read any other of Cussler's books, you know the kind of excitement ahead!

I am a brand, but I am not a label. My brand is Marc Eckō. You too are a brand. Whether you know it or not. Whether you like it or not. A brand is not skin-deep. Labels are skin-deep, but a brand—a true, authentic brand—is made of blood and bones, muscle and organs. A brand has a heartbeat.

Unlabel explores the anatomy of a brand. And it uses the Authenticity Formula (1) to explain the cross sections of that anatomy. My brand started in my parents’ garage in Lakewood, New Jersey, where I spray-painted T shirts and sold them for $10 a pop. Palm Fronds

Half way through the Kindle edition and I am already deeply grateful for the insights I've gleaned so far from Mr. Ecko's Unlabel.

What I've been able to see through Marc's eyes is invaluable. There is a real sense of history at play here that fortifies the designers focus on authenticity.

From drawing up 'Vote for Me' flyers to become the student body president in high school to the advanced maneuvers of 'velvet roping' an empty trade show booth with his brand placed elegantly atop a pedestal; there is a constant affirmation in nearly every page of the sheer value of doubling down on originality.

More than a rags to riches story, Ecko's tale is loaded with self effacing admissions of the dangerous side effects of success and lessons on how to counteract them with actual stress tested wisdom.

I've been aware of Ecko only intermittently through the mind stamping Rhino brand and I seem to recall when Getting Up, his foray into video game design came out but I'm someone who has always been suspicious of Graffiti as an art form.

Miraculously early on in the book I was educated by Marc, that what one mostly sees on the street in the form of 'graffiti' are called 'toys' - a moniker for nascent writers whose pens are cans. This seemingly minor insight clarified a confusion I have held for quite some time, namely, 'why does 98% of graffiti just look like practice?' now I know it's just a bunch of 'toys' and that graffiti, like any art, blossoms only after hours, days and potentially years of perfecting a style before you should manage Getting Up your first time. Wasn't it Voltaire who said 'one must write volumes before signing ones own name'? That idea wasn't lost on the ethos of Ecko.

Marc possesses that rare quality of a talent who knows he's got it but takes the time to get it right it in seemingly every aspect of his creative and professional life. I've read it non-stop until I decided to write this review. It reminds me of the 'innocence' of the 80's and 90's. An innocence that is, perhaps against our better judgement, present with us now. And without fail we'll look back on this time, today, in twenty years with the same reverence and nostalgia.

I mean I can hear the Beastie Boys saying "Ali Baba and the 40 thieves" in unison inside this guys garage where everything is possible as he bangs out another custom airbrush design or perfects the 100th palm frond.

I have enjoyed the read and as someone starting a new company his insights are a shot in the arm of perfect timing. I would not have found out about this book if it wasn't for his upcoming Skillshare class that I fully intend on taking. Can't wait to read the rest of where the journey takes him and what he has to say about it. Well done.

post-thought: There is some talk in the book referencing a change in the brand name from echo to ecko which I distinctly remember doing second takes on when it happened. I bring it up because there is something beautiful about the fact that Ecko (with the K) is so much more powerful and true and right for the brand than the 'original'. The philosophical underpinning of this realization in their company and also in the reader is a profound example of the power of being okay with moving forward even though you are not and cannot be sure of how the creative evolution of your business will refine itself. I found this passage and several others extremely encouraging. Just trust it.

Wish This Book Would Have Been Around When I Was 20

This book couldn't have come at a better time in my life.

On October 3, 2013, I was laid off from my dream job. I had created a magazine like no other in my chosen industry and it was beginning to show the signs of being successful. But a dysfunctional office culture created a situation where an insecure boss stole my brainchild as his own.

I felt exploited, as if I was used only for my innovative and creative brain. Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am. At 50 years old, I felt my career was over, and there was no way for me to achieve my life-long dreams. But Marc's book has helped me realize that is not the case, and that there is more to ME and my life than just one creation.

I'm still a "creator" and by using Marc's Authenticity Formula, I've shed the labels that were weighing me down and have discovered my brand, my authentic self.

Thanks, Marc! I just wish this book had been around when I was 20. I've already bought a copy for a friend in her own startup and I'm buying the book for each of my four 20-something children as their holiday gifts this year.

Marc ecko shows you his guts in this book

I never really wore Ecko stuff growing up.

I actually never knew who Marc Ecko really was until I read this book.

This book was an entertaining look into what it took to get to where he is today.

I appreciated how he also gave a fair share of the text to the failures he experienced throughout his career.

After reading this book I gotta give the man some respect for building the brand.

If you are thinking of starting your own clothing brand or are about to start working in the fashion industry is recommend you read this play book as a prerequisite to know what it takes to make it to the top.

Poorly written, almost impossible to read

This book is written so poorly I can barely get through it. Mikesell goes on and on with run-on sentences, excessive details that get in the way of the concepts, and very poor organization of the concepts. He shifts styles, meanders off topic, and fails to get to the point. He also uses very few graphs or illustrations. Instead, he includes large tables of numerical data (rather than a chart, like a pie, line, or bar graph, that would bring out the important message).

Even though it's in the 7th edition, it reads like a rough first draft. It needs major revision. In order to get through it, I skim for the ideas and skip a lot of the text. When I try to "read" it (i.e. every word), I get so bogged down, I can't move forward and I don't retain much. Mikesell obscures the main concepts in a haze of excess words, unhelpful information, and pervasive use of the passive voice.

Unfortunately, I have to use this book for my graduate Public Financial Management course. If you have the choice, find something better.

I have finished the manuscript, however it was just completed this past week. I was going to rush things and get it out on time but I have decided that in order to give readers a superior product that is worth your $3.99, I owe it to you all to give the preparation the proper time frame. Writing with a baby has slowed me down. I am working daily on ways to get more done in the hours given to me.
BUT because this is the decision I had to make today (and it wasn’t easy) I decided to post the Prologue, Chapter One and Chapter Two on my blog on April 24 – along with a giveaway of a Kindle Oasis. Angsty, compelling, sexy, this is Abbi Glines at her very best—making us turn those pages so fast, it becomes a fire hazard! An unputdownable tale of first loves, second chances, and Southern boys in pickup trucks. I have loved every single thing I have ever read from this author, but the Sutton boys own my heart, and I already cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us. A must-read.

I am a born and raised southern girl, and I love how much I can relate to the places and the people you write about!! You are dead on with their personalities and all the southern nuances. These Sutton boys are hot!!! Asher and Dixie .....I can't explain how much I love these characters!! I also love Dixie's daddy, Luke. He is the sweetest!! I am going to to be stalking you on Goodreads for any hint on when we can expect to get more of the Sutton family!! If you have read any of Abbi's work before, buy this book. History, current events to nuclear deal

The book traces Mideast history form Lawrence of Arabia to current instability facilitated by Iran. Iran incites instability in Jordan and Lebanon by funding Hezbollah and Hamas, political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood and by flow of arms to militias. Iran is funding the Taliban, largely by buying opium. The book evolves to more recent history, culminating in the background of the recent agreement attempting to slow Iranian nuclear development.
The 2010 Arab Spring changed the political landscape although the Obama admin gave only soft support to the Green Movement towards a possible democratically induced regime change in Iran. Solomon cites administration waffling on Iran policy along with desperate desire for a nuclear deal. Promoting a deal at any cost resulted in a raw deal. Noting that the current repressive regime is not popular with the populace along with the leader's age, the Obama administration made a short term deal betting heavily on the Khomenie regime being replaced in the near future. It's likely to be a losing wager betting on short term, giving Iran time to enhance capabilities. Including a drop in oil production, sanctions and banking restrictions were severely impacting Iranian economy before rescinding as part of the deal. The book goes into some detail on success of financial restrictions. All was sacrificed in the interests of a temporary deal. We will see the denouement when time comes for renewal in about 5 years.
Solomon makes a significant miscalculation when he says that Obama is not following Bush in the goal of nation building. In fact, Secy of State Clinton's total function was lecturing Arabs on American democracy. Their promotion of Arab Spring as an expression of democracy is directly responsible for the goal of removing Assad in Syria, the cause of so many deaths and children in Aleppo hospitals as well as ill advised regime changes in Egypt and Libya. After promising exit plans in 2008, Obama follows exactly Bush's schedule and objective of democracy spreading in Iraq and Afghanistan. Minimizing that peculiar misinterpretation, the book is a very prescient and informative analysis.
The conclusion has Iran moving quickly in concert with Russia to consolidate gains from the bad nuclear deal.

Oh, sometimes sanctions do work.

This is about the sanctions and machinations that led the U.S. to the controversial, 2016 Vienna nuclear-peace negotiation with Iran. As complicated as the whole thing was it still is only the end residue of a long bloody shooting war with Iran that started in 1980s. This book needs to be read with others about the real war.

Extremely factual, engaging and instructive. gives you the fact without finger pointing, and let you form your opinion. I am an iranian American has has been in the States for 55 years. My allegiance is clearly to America. I read this book with that bias. I was appalled by the shear stupidity of our government approach one multiple decades and multiple presidents. The only approach had any smarts was that of Bill Clinton. I am sure you will enjoy his book regardless of your politics

Impossible to read

Even though this topic is extremely interesting and I need the information presented in it for my research, reading it is the most painful experience ever - I agree with both previous reviews. As a student, I resent Mr. Hansen and other academics who are using their knowledge to make pompous intellectuals fall in love with them. I really have no use of this books' content as it is impossible to read or make sense of.

This book is unnecessarily wordy. Throughout the book Hansen flexes his academic lexicon and takes several pages to make a point that could be made in one paragraph with simple language. His target audience seems to be pompous intellectuals. This book is not accessible for artist or students and I found it painful to read.

Much-needed information for students of "The Secret."

This boxed set of three books gives the reader everything necessary to put the concepts of "The Secret" into practice.
Clearly written, this collection provides a "user manual" for enhancing and controlling how we experience our lives.
The set includes a bonus cd (not mentioned in the item description) of Esther Hicks and Abraham speaking not only conceptually, but giving real-life examples and powerful analogies of The Law of Attraction in practice. Esther and Abraham deliver this information with a a combination of joy, love and humor that is palpable. You will find yourself wanting more.
The three volumes are packaged in an attractive, heavy cardboard slip case that will look good on your book shelf.
I have given a number of these sets as gifts, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Perhaps best of all, the cost of the set (including shipping) is less than the price of any ONE of the books it contains if purchased individually. How good is that?
These volumes are life changing. Highly recommended.

The Teachings of Abraham Book Collection

This is a great way to begin the teachings of Abraham. Everything you need is there including a CD on each of the books in the series: "The Law of Attraction; The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent; and The Amazing Power of Emotions. I highly recommend this boxed set for anyone, either as one just beginning these teachings OR a long-time student of the work.

As a teacher of ACIM for many years, I have found that the Abraham teachings are extremely helpful for students who find the Course a bit too intellectual. This approach "softens" the intellectual study and gives you some real exercises to experience in your understanding of the collective consciousness. As Abraham AND ACIM both tell us --- these teachings are learned through life experiences, the only true way to understand and actually embody these universal teachings.

The answers to Life

I wasn't sure which book to start with, so I started reading the Law of Attraction first, and it felt like I was missing something. So I started reading The Astonishing Power of Emotions and it breaks everything down, even how life works and then they teach you how to apply what you learn, it is truly amazing and exciting! I'm so happy I bought this series and I can't wait to read the other two books. I definitely recommend these books, but if you were to only purchase one book from Abraham-Hicks I'd say The Astonishing Power of Emotions is a great choice!!
